We visited Boca, which is pretty much the most touristy thing you can do here. As you saw in the beginning of that video, it's one of the oldest barrios renowned for their bright colors, tango, and futbol (the Boca Juniors stadium). Took the bus with a few friends, walked around, had lunch at a lil cafe, and of course took a bunch of pictures. Some truly amazing artwork by some of the street vendors, including an incredible painting done my a man with no arms, done completely with his mouth (we werent allowed to take pictures of the artwork...)
pick up game...so legit
Two Saturdays ago we went to the State of Trance 500 tour featuring Armin Van Buren, the number one DJ in the world according to DJ Mag (I guess Tiesto who I saw a few weeks ago is number 3). The tour, consisting of Armin and 5 other elite DJs, only does one show per continent. Needless to say it was an incredible experience, but I'll let the video report do the talking...
We went to a little jazz/funk bar on Sunday night called Makena. A small place but a great atmosphere and great live music...really felt like we were experiencing the culture here haha. My favorite part was when they came out and started freestyle rapping with the jazz beat in the background:
Class has been pretty interesting, but the workload is increasing as we near midterms. My favorite class has been my Social Entrepreneurship class, where we have guest speakers all the time from various organizations...very practical and I love thinking of ideas of how to improve/help society. In my regular Spanish class today I had a presentation on the SuperclĂĄsico and other fĂștbol rivalries in Argentina. I included an interview of a woman who grew up down here on what it truly means to "ser fanatico" or "be a fan" in Argentina. Not sure if I can embed a powerpoint on here, but i'm workig on embedding some of the videos included in my presentation, incredible passion.
Love you family add me on skype adsmith2525 and we can video chat! Here are some other random pics to leave you with...
